This is one of my most favorite highways in California. Right along the beach.

If you didn't make it to Music in the Plaza yesterday you missed a fun event. The bands were good, the weather was wonderful and people were enjoying the day. I sold some cookbooks and seriously if you want a cookbook you'd better get to MY FRIENDS AND I and pick one up. They are going fast.

The cookbooks are here! I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
It looks pretty and there are about 235 great sounding recipes in it.
They will be on sale at MY FRIENDS AND I for $11.00 tax included starting tomorrow, and I will have them at the Niles Main Street Assoc. booth on Sunday during the FREE music concert in the Plaza.
Come listen to the music, say hi, and buy a cookbook or two! Put a few away for Christmas Gifts, heck it will be here before you know it!
California's state bird is the Quail. Did you know that? |
The California Quail, Callipepla californica, also known as the California Valley Quail or Valley Quail, is a small ground-dwelling bird in the New World quail family. It is the state bird of California. Wikipedia

I like California maps. It stands to reason since I was born and raised in CALIFORNIA. (actually Niles dist. of Fremont) I was playing around on the web and found this guy. It's hard to tell but he's made from vintage Ca. maps. Thought it might be fun to post a CA. type item everyday on the blog. Keep checking back to see what I find.
FREE CONCERT!
This is a really fun event and IT'S FREE!
I will be at the Niles Main Street Assoc. Booth selling the brand new Niles Community Cookbook It's a fund raiser for the Assoc. It's suppose to arrive tomorrow and I'm counting on it getting here. It's my baby. I put most of it together and I'm really excited to see the finished product. It has some great recipes in it. Hope you come by, pick one up for yourself and maybe for some early Christmas gifts. (it's never too early to start thinking of that ! LOL)

This is my daughter and 2 Grandsons. They were at Bloomington IL. airport waiting for their flight to San Francisco. They got here late last night. We went to the beach today and have 9 more fun filled days. Will keep you posted on our adventures.
P.S. They just went to our local Jack in the Box. They don't have one where they live so it's a must do part of California visit. Next we have to go to In and Out. Junk food. Gotta love it!

The stuff out of the camper and into my hall way. There is some really cute things in these boxes.
I will have it in the shop tomorrow or the next day.
Now the real fun begins. Like Christmas in July! |
I've had the stoneware custards pictured below in my collection for a while and have been thinking about selling them. I found the rack in Portland and put it together, so neat!
It will be in the shop for sale soon. I'll have it displayed in one of the cases.

After we left Portland we stayed in Salem and the next morning we headed for the Coast. We were on Hwy. 18 headed for Lincoln and stopped at this darling place. We ate here 3 years ago. So cute and the food was wonderful. We shared, bacon, eggs, country potatoes and Strawberry crepes with real whipped cream. HEAVEN! They not only have the little Cafe but a fruit stand and a nursery with beautiful plants. The fruit stand also has an ice cream bar where they sell ice cream they make there. We were too full for that. Next time!
On the way to the coast we stopped at this Antique Store. The owner told us that this was the first Bonanza restraurant. (spelling? Can't find spell check since they changed the format of this thing! LOL) Anyway it was owned by the brother of the guy who owned the land and ranch where the TV show Bonanza was filmed. There is a whole showcase full of Bonanza stuff which is not for sale. Nice store, nice people running it.
Beautiful view thru the trees. They are pretty thick in places.
My beach finds. Couldn't find a heart shell at first so I made one. I found one later along with the two little round sand dollars. The smallest I've ever seen. The rocks are hard to see, but some of them are Agate. I had fun collecting.
We're on our way home. I have mixed feelings. I'm missing home and the shop, but I love to see new places too. I am going to be working in the shop this next week and putting in all my new found goodies. Stop by and see.

WHOA! I had no ideal that the picture on the last post was so big, AND it told me it couldn't be loaded so wasn't even expecting to see it. Oh well.
This is what we could see while waiting in bumper to bumper trafic to get across the bridge going to the expo yesterday. One of these days I'm going to go there and see what OLD TOWN is. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get from one end of Portland to where we were going. I think it's worse traffic than the bay area.
The Antique show was something else. We slept in our camper in the parking lot along with lots of dealers who were setting up for the show. Last time we came they starting setting up in the parking lot at 6:00 a.m. selling out of their cars before the show offically opened. Well this time we got awaken at 4:30 that's AM!!! I finially got up and made coffee and when it was light enough to see, got out and started shopping. We are 2 pooped travelers tonight. Early bed for us. Off to the Oregon coast tomorrow.

Yoohoo everyone, I'm on a trip! Left yesterday for Portland. We are going to the big Antique Expo on Friday. I know.......let me hear a big lucky you from everyone. I really am lucky. We just load up the camper and head out for shopping and fun. We have already stopped at a lot of shops and I must say everything is way expensive. MY FRIENDS AND I has the best prices, and so far is the cutest and best antique store I've been in. REALLY.........I'm not just saying that cause I own it. It's true. I never can understand why people in stores can't display their wares. I looked in a lot of messy, junky booths and it's not as much fun as looking in decorated ones. I get bored really fast. First night we stayed in Canyonville and the Seven Feathers casino is right near their 5 star RV park. Beautiful place. I gambled a little bit on a penny machine that ended up paying me 55.00. I have no ideal how I won but I did. Got the money and put it in my pocket and left! LOL! Stay tuned for more on the road news. I'll try and take some pictures too.

Go here to find the recipe for this. Cake mix, cream cheese and peaches. YUM!
I'm going to make this soon!
http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/dessert/cake/peachy-keen-bars.html#.T2CUyHsx2zh.pinterestServe it on this. Look..........punch holes in a paper plate, tie napkin and utensils to it and it's ready to be filled. Another one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments.
Sorry I've been an absent blogger lately. Just been busy. Mary dealer #16 has this cute sign. Isn't it the truth? I'm having a drawing for it this month. Come in and be entered and because you are all loyal to my blog (even if sometimes I'm not so good about posting) you can email me and I will enter you in the drawing. Come into the shop and get entered again. It's little. Only 3x6. Just right for a desk.
July is all about the Red, White, and Blue so I'm giving away these little iron on patches. Come in and get yours while they last! (one per customer)
