Thinking in Red White and Blue

As if all the Red White and Blue pictures of my personal collections in last post weren't enough I found this cute little vintage paper doll. With Monday being Memorial Day we need to be THANKFUL to all the service men and women serving now and in the past who have made the good ol' USA what it is today.

Some of my favorite things

A customer that was in the shop this weekend asked me what I collect. I told her I'd take a few pictures and put them on the blog. I have been collecting for a long time. My collections include among other things, vintage toys, quilts, birds, black Americana, old games, bakelite pieces, green depression glass, pottery, flower frogs. etc. Don't you just love the colors in old stuff? That's what first got me hooked on the vintage toys, especially the red ones.
The pelican in one of the second picture is a treasured gift from some good friends. Joe carved it and gave it to me. It has a place of honor in my guest bathroom with a lot of my green frogs.

In the last post I talked about how wonderful the Wildflower event is going to be this year and forgot to mention that there is going to be a raffle. Just look at the Garden Chair MY FRIENDS AND I is donating and look at the beautiful Charm bracelet that is also going to be raffled. Diane at COLOR ME QUILTS AND MORE is donating a quilt she made but I don't have a picture of it yet. It's hanging in her window to see. Since it's a fund raiser for NILES MAIN STREET ASSOC. we decided to start the raffle right away. Tickets are $1.00 ea 6 for $5.00 or a big long arm pull for $20.00 and will be available at MY FRIENDS AND I till the event on Sunday at which time they will be on display in front of the shop. The drawing will be at 4:00 on Sunday and you don't have to be present to win. Make your own Charm Bracelet on Sunday. Thirteen different locations in town will each have one of the charms for sale @ $2.00 ea. The bead shop Kiowa Rose will have the bracelet for purchase to put your charms on. Quantities are limited. A list of participating shops will be available that day. (Remember you can also buy raffle tickets and try to win this one!)
