Remember these?

I found boxes of these cute curlers still in the original packaging. They will be in the store on Sat. I have several at $6.50 each. They would be so cute displayed in a bathroom or bedroom, great conversation piece. How about putting your childhood picture by them. CUTE!
The Dick and Jane book is probably the most well known and collected book of all the Children's school books from the 40's and 50's. Dick, Jane, Sally and Spot were in all the stories. Who could forget "see Spot Run". It's how us Baby Boomer's learned to read!
These cute vintage baby clothes are already in the shop. They'd be cute in any room especially in a baby's room or laundry room. It's fun to save these vintage items and give them a new use, as one of a kind , unique decorator items in your home. They are made really well and a baby could actually wear them!

May events in Niles

May 9th is the Annual Car show. Now ladies we know this might not be your thing, but............if you come with your guy to this, he just might agree to come with you on the 17th to the Wildflower Art and Garden show! And any way he can look at cars and you can shop!

Here's another reminder about the Wildflower, Art and Garden Show. It's a great way to spend the day, touring gardens $12.00 in advance $15.00 day of event, and then coming down town and seeing the street vendors and of course shopping at MY FRIENDS AND I. If you buy tickets for the garden tour, then come in that day, we'll put you in a $25.00 gift certificate drawing good at MY FRIENDS AND I. It's our way to support the event.
You can buy your tickets at MY FRIENDS AND I and on line by clicking on the Niles Main Steet Assoc. web page to the right.

Better picture of Depot

This is a picture I took today to go with the blog below. It's a site to see.

Train Station coming back to Niles

Yesterday after a long time waiting, the Historic Niles Depot was brought back to it's original place in the downtown Niles area. It was quite a feat. It will sit on the other side of the railroad tracks till the first part of May when a bridge will be built over the tracks and it will be moved into the Niles Plaza area next to the refurbished freight building. Everyone in Niles is so excited to see this all coming together. The second picture shows PGE holding up the power lines for the depot to move under. The third is of a Southern Pacific commuter train going past. The Depot will be off limits while on the other side of the tracks. The railroad has made it clear that if people cross those tracks it may halt the whole move. After it's refurbished it will be the focal point of the plaza. We can hardly wait! Don't forget to read the post before this one and buy some tickets!

We're having a Drawing for Wildflower

Niles is famous for all our events. I'm going to keep reminding you of the Niles Main Street Assoc.
Wildflower Art and Garden show
May 17th.
I've been working on the committee and I can tell you that we have 10 great gardens to tour, one of them was on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Country Gardens Magazine a few months ago. Tickets are only $12 in advance and $15 day of the tour. Tickets can be purchased at MY FRIENDS AND I , and on the Niles.org website. There will also be street vendors with Niles stores participating and local crafters along with 4 nurseries and plant sellers set up on the sidewalk along Niles Blvd, of course that's free.
Also that day we have some pretty spectacular items that will be in a raffle. The beautiful quilt below was donanted by Diane at Color Me Quilts and More here in Niles. It's on display in her front window at 37495 Niles Blvd. and she's already selling tickets in her shop. It's a $1.00 for one $5.00 for 6 or a whole long arm pull for $20.00. Drawing will be at 4:00 on the 17th. I can tell you I plan on buying lots of these in hopes of winning this beauty!
You can also buy the tickets at My Friends and I. The other prizes will be on display all day long on the 17th and what's great about this Raffle is that you can put your ticket in for just the item you'd like to win. All proceeds go to the Niles Main Street Assoc.
