Shop hopping

Yesterday we went to a few shops that we go to every time we come to IL. I found this nice quilt, and the cute little shoes which have holes in each toe, which only adds to the cuteness. I always wonder about the child that wore them. One of the stores had gone out of business. So Sad. We are seeing it a lot on this trip. I feel very happy lucky that MY FRIENDS AND I can still be in business in these bad economical times.

Springfield IL. Antique Show

We went to the Springfield antique show on Sunday. The weather said it "might" rain, well it did, it poured! There were 3 big overhangs and a large building full of stuff. The advertisement said rain or shine, and they meant it. I felt sorry for the ones set up outside, but it didn't seem to bother them, they just threw a tarp over their wares when it rained and took them off when it stopped for awhile. It was hot and humid around 90 degrees. I told one of the dealers there that if this was CA everyone would pack up and go home!

Here are just a few of the items I bought. I love the planter and vase.

I'm in IL.

Well I'm now in IL. and officially buying goodies for the shop. These are just a few of the things I've already picked up. Tomorrow we are going to a BIG monthly Antique show in Blooming where I'm sure to find lots of great stuff.
Look at that cute over night case in the photo. It's two toned, blue and tan, I don't think I've ever had one like it. Just a reminder that you can try and click on the pictures to make them larger, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't who knows why! Check the blog often for more photo's and updates about my trip.
P.S. We have had some awsome weather. THUNDER, lighting and lots of rain. More in 2 hours than we probably get in one month in Fremont during the winter. It comes down thick and hard. This Native Fremont Gal is enjoying it!

What a great day is was in Niles for Flag Day. These beautiful quilts were made by the local chapter of the nation wide "Quilts of Valor". The material's and time are donated. Each quilt gets sent to a military person who was injured in the war. They were wonderful.

From the inside out

Can't get enough of Red, White and Blue. Lots of the stores in town are decorating for Flag Day this Sunday. It looks so pretty. I even like looking from the inside of the store out the windows.

Look how cute these guys are. Wouldn't they look good in your Red, White and Blue decorating?

The Good Ol' Red, White and Blue

Spent yesterday doing up the store windows for the June 14th Flag Day celebration in Niles. The Niles Veteran's Assoc. and the Niles Main Street Assoc. are hosting the event on Sunday June 14, 1:00 to 2:00. There will be band music, speakers and the raising of a new flag by a color guard. It's also the 5 year anniversary of the new flag pole that was erected here in Niles. It's a day of celebrating our flag. Mark you calendars and join us.

You could win this Vintage Watering Can arrangement. Just fill out an entry form each time you make a purchase from now till July 31.
